The First Years Jet Stroller - Happy Hippos Brown

I wanted a lightweight stroller for outings that we could keep in the trunk of the car. I hesitated in buying an umbrella stroller because I always found them to be too short and I seemed to be hunched over whenever I used them. I was very pleased when I found this stroller because it is taller than most. It can be used up to 50 pounds which means we will be able to get more than a couple of years out if it.

Fisher Price Easy-On Infant Carrier
We were lucky to have this carrier passed down to us by a family member. It can be used to carry baby facing in or out and up to 25 pounds. The entire piece that the baby sits in snaps off. You lay baby on it like a diaper and zip up the sides. The parent puts their harness on first, then you pick up the baby and snap his harness on to yours. The connection is very secure - it's a five-point system. The adult harness distributes the baby's weight evenly across the hips. It also has a toy ring attached so you can link a toy on it.

Graco Metrolite Travel System - Utopia
I love my stroller and car seat (the car seat is a Snugride 32). The stroller is great for the very rough sidewalks in our neighbourhood. It is a little heavy, but I am able to manage it up and down the stairs leading to my apartment when it is folded up even when I have my daughter in my other arm.
We bought our travel system in Canada because we have a car with Canadian tags which means our car seat had to be purchased in Canada. The Canadian version of this travel system has several features that the U.S. version does not have. I would not have been happy with the U.S. version.
*My daughter was able to use this car seat until she was about 16 months old at which point she outgrew the height maximum for the seat (81 inches).

Graco Victoria Non Dropside Crib
We are very happy with this crib. I did a lot of crib research before buying and chose this one because it was more highly rated safety wise than any other Graco non dropside crib on the market at the time. It was pretty easy to assemble and looks great too.

Ikea Leksvik 2-Drawer Chest with Changing Table Top
This changing table is great because the top comes off when you no longer need a changing table and it becomes a regular dresser. The drawers are large and fit all of my daughter's cloths. The two cubbies are prefect for baskets which I use to store all of her socks, shoes and hats.

Fisher-Price Bouncy Chair
My daughter used this chair from birth to about 5 months of age. It plays music and vibrates. We used it a lot when we needed to take a shower while we were home along with her.

Toys - These are some of my daughter's favorite toys (as determined by the frequency with which she plays with them).

Baby Einstein Jumper
This is a favorite! My daughter loves bouncing away in this jumper. The seat swivels around and there are activities on all sides. There are also several places when you can attach your own toys for added fun.
Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies & Lights Deluxe Gym
My daughter started out with a much simpler play mat which she grew bored with very quickly. She absolutely loved this play mat! In one mode, the music will play continuously. In another, rainforest sounds play. In the third, the music plays and the lights illuminate when the support arches are kicked. It was really cool to watch her learn this association. You can also take the toys off and switch them out with new ones to keep things interesting.

Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether
This is by far one of my daughter's most favorite toys! She absolutely loves to chew on her Sophie. She also squeaks!

Manhattan Toy Baby Whoozit
The hearts and starts rattle, the green triangle crunches and the pink rings are fun to chew on. The back has a high contrast black and white pattern on it which is great from infants. The red nose squeaks and underneath is a little mirror. Lilah is a big fan (especially when we say the word Whoozit)!

Do You Want To Play? Soft Book
This soft book is fabulous! You can put an image of your child on the front cover which a really cute feature. All of the pages are super crunchy, the corners of the front page are chewable and there are little rings attached to the side of the book for easy grabbing. Inside there is a squeaky duck, a mirror for playing Peek-A-Boo, a soft teddy bear and a shiny star.

Lamaze Mortimer the Moose
This guy is just too cute! His feet rattle and crunch and his antlers and the rings on his butt are great for chewing on. He also squeaks! He comes with a clip on the top so that you can attach him anywhere. We attached ours to the rainforest playmat for awhile.

Bright Starts Chill & Teethe
These are just really simple teething toys. My daughter especially likes them when we put them in the fridge. We also have them attached to her highchair and activity bouncer.

LeapFrog Learn & Groove Table
We bought this for our daughter when she was just learning to stand (5 months). She loved it and it is still the most played with toy in the house (@ 9 months). It does tip over fairly easily (and it will slide on hardwood), but we anchored it by removing P, R, Q, and D from the foam letter mats...see below...we have and putting one leg in each hole).

Alphabet Tiles
These tiles are FABULOUS! We have hardwood floors in our house so we used these tiles to create a softer play space. Not only are they great to use as flooring, our daughter loves to pull the tiles apart and the letters out and play with them so the tiles are a toy as well.

Fisher Price Activity Walker
This walker can be used upright as shown or as a flat play surface. It locks into place when turned into a table to prevent pinching. My daughter plays with it in both positions, but more in the upright position now that she is starting to walk. It does slip if used on hardwood floors, but now that my daughter is a little more stable on her feet, she is able to control it even on the hardwood.

Fisher Price Little People Time to Learn Ride-On
This little car has provided hours of fun! It has a trunk that opens and closes (great for hiding all kinds of things in), a little book on the front with a turnable page that says "A-Apple, B-Bird, C-Camel, D-Duck" and makes sounds for each and a 'point to the...' game on the dashboard (numbers, colors, shapes). It also plays a little song and makes a few other noises.

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Workbench
This is a very cute little workbench. I comes with a small hammer to pound down the light-up shapes. The drill handle moves up and down, the paint roller spins, the clamp handle spins and the slide on the ruler moves back and forth. There are 3 settings (alphabet, music and playtime). I was quite impressed with the variety of songs/sayings within each of the settings.

Fisher Price Little People Animal Sounds Farm and Tractor
This is such a cute little farm. I had wanted to buy my daughter the version I had growing up as a kid, but this new version has far more bells and whistles! The tractor is a fun addition even though it is not at all proportional in size to the barn.

Other favourite Fisher Price toys...

Melissa & Doug
We are big fans of Melissa & Doug and have been pleased with all of their products was have purchased. They are all well made wooden toys that are durable! We have Melissa and Doug puzzles, a sorting cube and blocks and wouldn't hesitant to buy more.

Vtech Touch & Teach Turtle
This is a great little interactive toy. The pages are made from a durable plastic and won't tear! There are three modes of play (letter mode - light-up color buttons teach letters, shapes, and objects, story mode - light-up color buttons tell small stories about the objects and the number buttons play sound effects and music mode - sound effects and melodies).

Discovery Kids Indoor/Outdoor Play Tent
This is a fabulous little tent and it has provided hours of fun for my daughter and her friends! We live in a small 2-bedroom apartment and didn't think we would have room for it, but it really isn't that big. The tunnel is adjustable so you can make it as long or as short as you like or take it off altogether. This was a great gift!

DISLIKES (or products we are just not big fans of)

Bumbo Chair
A  lot of people are big fans of the Bumbo chair, but my daughter does not really like sitting in it for any length of time. It seemed to force her to sit an a rather unnatural looking position. As she grew stronger, she would arch her back and try to get out and it would not have taken much for her to flip out of it.
*Although my daughter wanted nothing to do with the Bumbo chair when she was an infant, she loved to sit in it as a toddler.
